CommitPool: Week 1 Update
The CommitPool team is excited to share our first weekly update with you, the KERNEL community!
This Week
CommitPool is a brand new project, so our focus this week was on establishing our team, testing an existential hypothesis, figuring out a rough scope for our MVP, and creating a prototype.
The CommitPool Team
Existential Hypothesis
CommitPool relies on an oracle to bring behavioral (e.g. workout) data on-chain to verify users’ commitments and trigger penalties if they are not met. Our working hypothesis is that Strava (as a source of workout data) and Chainlink (as an oracle) will meet our needs, but we need to be sure they work together properly. As an initial test of our hypothesis, we met with Chainlink to understand the possible technical approaches. Initial indications suggest that our requirements can indeed be met with Strava and Chainlink.
In the coming week we will further test our hypothesis with a follow-up meeting with Chainlink and a proof-of-concept.
Design Garden: MVP Scoping & Prototyping
We completed a hypersprint over three sessions, which resulted in a storyboard for our first prototype. More importantly, though, the sprint enabled us to decide on the relevant scope for our MVP. Ultimately, though we feel CommitPool will be most valuable if we tap into the power of pooling, we decided to begin with single-player mode. Our rationale is that we can test a number of relevant hypotheses in single-player mode while avoiding some of the complexity, incentive edge cases, and attack vectors that come with the pooled mode.
Based on the storyboard and MVP scope discussion, we created a clickable prototype in Figma, which we will test in user interviews beginning next week.

We will also be reaching out to schedule some user tests. Please keep an eye out for an invitation and let us know if you’d like to participate.
Thank you!
